The Save Our Land Committee just announced that they turned in 5,100 additional signatures yesterday to the County Clerk, pushing the total number now submitted to over EIGHT THOUSAND SIGNATURES!

This is wonderful news for the broad, grassroots effort to protect precious lands on Hawai'i Island. However, the Committee doesn't yet know how many of those signatures will actually qualify toward the magic number of 4,864 verified voter signatures necessary to put the 2% Land Fund on the ballot in November. It could very well come down to just a handful of signatures either way.

You have ONE FINAL CHANCE to help ensure that the effort succeeds.

Because the deadline fell on a Saturday (today), the County will accept a final batch of signatures this Monday, June 19th. PLEASE spend just an hour or two more this weekend to gather whatever signatures you can and turn in the completed, notarized forms to the following pick-up points on Monday for the Pony Express to Hilo:Remember to include the address where you registered to vote- and St.Ave or Ct. and to enter 2006 in the date box
